Browsers & channels
Snipe Cloud Office automatically sends you to one of two channels:
legacy (Internet Explorer 9 and older, and older engines)
and modern (current Chromium, Firefox, and Safari).
One account works on both channels. Sign in from either Start Center.
- Legacy if Chromium / Chrome / Edge < 72; IE <= 9; Firefox < 70; or Safari < 6
- Modern on current Chromium, Firefox, and Safari
Switch channels any time: Start Center → Switch to modern / Switch to legacy,
Channel in a modern app, or File → Switch to modern in a legacy app.
Legacy channel tips
Windows 95: Use Internet Explorer 5.5. Download the Win95/98 patch bundle from
Start Center → Recommended browsers, install every update, then IE 5.5 from the bundle.
Firefox 1.5 works after the same patches.
Dropdown menus in IE 5.5 respond best alongside the toolbar buttons.
App features differ by channel; see Apps overview for legacy vs modern lists.
Mobile phones & tablets
Snipe Cloud Office runs in the browser on phones and tablets. Use the channel that matches your device —
the Start Center for each channel lists supported models.
| Channel |
Supported devices |
Where to open |
| Legacy |
iPhone 3 through iPhone 6 (Safari on iOS)
Android 4.0 through 7.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich through Nougat; Chrome or system browser)

Android 8.0 (Oreo) and newer

Modern Start Center |
The automatic router may send some older phones to the modern channel. If the app misbehaves or menus are missing,
open the legacy Start Center and use Switch to legacy (modern sidebar) or bookmark
the legacy Start Center on the device.
One account works on both channels. Sign in from either Start Center.
Recommended browsers (modern channel)
The modern Start Center lists
only browsers that meet the modern channel minimum: Chromium 80+, Firefox 78+,
Safari 13.1+, plus Snipe Browser where we ship a build for that OS.
Stock Chrome 49, Firefox 52, Internet Explorer, and old built-in Safari are not listed because they cannot run the modern apps.
Legacy Mac versions are listed separately (10.7 through 11) with the last Chrome, Firefox, and Safari that qualify on each release.
Desktop rows cover Windows Vista through 11, Linux (Ubuntu, openSUSE), and
macOS 12+ plus Mac OS X 10.7–11.
Mobile rows cover Android 8+ and iPhone 7+ on the modern channel.
On a phone, the Start Center shows the same data as stacked cards instead of a wide table.
